The Castalie Project
Castalie founded in 2011 thanks to the conviction of one committed man: Thibault Lamarque. He firmly believes that the best waste is no waste at all.
In France, 16 billion plastic water bottles are consumed each year (of which barely 10% are recycled in large cities). To reduce the impact of these plastic bottles on our health and the planet, he has come up with a sustainable, meaningful, premium, and stylish alternative.
Castalie is water now available !
Our high-quality fountains, manufactured in France, are designed with a very low environmental impact. The water is microfiltered directly on site through a meticulous process that guarantees a perfectly neutral taste, while generating 88% less environmental impact than single-use bottles.
Today, Castalie water is the choice of many Michelin-starred chefs, bistros, high-end hotels, and numerous committed companies, as well as all those who value both quality and sustainability.
Since the beginning of the adventure, more than 410 million plastic bottles have been avoided.
Making water better for us and for the planet was our dream. It's now a reality.
Castalie.
The pillars of the Castalie project
Becoming part of the circular economy means designing a different business model.
The end of single-use

When Castalie was founded, we made a bet that it was possible to put an end to plastic bottle pollution by offering a sustainable, premium-quality alternative: microfiltered water, still or sparkling, pure and delicious.
Today, in France, 16 billion plastic bottles are thrown away every year, but only 7% are recycled.
The mass production and pollution impact of these bottles harm biodiversity and marine ecosystems and exacerbate climate change.
Thanks to Castalie fountains, 410 million plastic water bottles have been avoided.
On the way to ending the use of single-use containers...
For high-quality water
Water is a rare and precious resource. As part of our commitment to preserving this vital resource, and to making pure, neutral-tasting water accessible to all, we have developed a two-stage microfiltration technology.
"By combining a microfiltration membrane and an activated carbon filter that adsorbs chlorine present in tap water as well as any pollutants (traces of pesticides, pesticide metabolites, PFAS), we offer a unique taste experience that is good for people and the planet."

Without measurement, there is no impact.

Carbon footprint
Measurement is essential to generating real impact. At Castalie, we aim to reduce your carbon footprint in a tangible way. By choosing our solutions, you are contributing to a significant reduction in your carbon footprint and waste.
How? By offering you the option of water produced directly on site, combined with durable, reusable glass containers. This approach revolutionizes your environmental impact.
At Castalie, we rely on accurate data to develop effective environmental strategies. We firmly believe that this approach measures the real impact of our actions, enabling us to shape a more sustainable and responsible future.
Every year we publish our impact report.
Value chain analysis
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a crucial tool in this impact measurement process. It allows us to comprehensively assess the environmental impacts associated with our products and services. Thanks to this analysis, we can claim to have a carbon footprint that is 88% lower than that of a plastic bottle. By identifying the major sources of emissions, we are able to implement targeted actions to reduce these negative impacts on the environment.

Carbon-neutral accounting
We have opted for an alternative accounting system that measures not only our economic performance but also our social and environmental performance using non-financial indicators, such as the number of plastic bottles avoided since our creation.
Inspiring consumption patterns

We are firmly committed to responsible consumption, favoring components that are largely sourced from Europe. We choose high-quality, recyclable materials such as stainless steel and glass!
But at our company, our commitment to the environment goes beyond simply manufacturing our products. We support each of our customers in adopting a more responsible approach. How? By encouraging them to reduce their use of single-use plastic with our locally produced water and reusable containers. This approach aims to provide high-quality water while protecting the environment.
Reducing plastic waste is one of the major challenges of the 21st century. Opting for an eco-designed mains-connected water cooler is a responsible alternative to using plastic bottles or jugs. By reducing waste production, companies are committing to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and demonstrating their commitment to protecting the environment.
Our Articles of Association now state that one of Castalie’s objectives is to contribute to sustainable development. They also provide for the creation of a Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) Committee, whose mission is to support management in shaping the company’s strategy. This committee ensures compliance with social and solidarity principles while assessing the social impact of the company’s activities.
Yes to obsolescence
-deprogrammed

At Castalie, our commitment to eco-design is fundamental. All our fountains and containers are precision-manufactured and assembled in France and Italy using high-quality, recyclable materials. Our priority is to ensure maximum durability for our products through meticulous maintenance.
The PURE range, entirely eco-designed in accordance with the NF E01-005 standard, aims to reduce the carbon footprint of our mains-connected water coolers. Made from stainless steel and recyclable glass, our filter coolers actively contribute to protecting the environment.
When our fountains reach the end of their life cycle, we ensure that reusable components are recovered. The rest is sent to specialized plants to guarantee optimal recycling.
In addition, our fountains are designed for maximum longevity. Thanks to meticulous repairs and reconditioning in our workshops, we guarantee a service life of several years.
What is an eco-designed fountain?
When Thibault Lamarque founded Castalie 2011, he never imagined designing machines whose manufacture would go against his values: ecology and eco-responsibility. This is how the first PURE water cooler was born, entirely eco-designed, like all its little sisters that make up our range with its now iconic design.
What does eco-design mean for Castalie
- It starts with the choice of materials: stainless steel and glass, which are high-quality materials that are easily recyclable.
- The water fountain is designed for optimal longevity: each part can be removed and replaced, while the other parts remain intact, meaning that the fountain does not need to be replaced!
- Each water cooler that is uninstalled is reconditioned so that it can be offered to our customers again. This ensures that the coolers have an optimal lifespan.
- Faulty electronic components are repaired and reused in reconditioned fountains.
- The design of the water fountain is equally well considered, with a timeless aesthetic that ensures it never goes out of style. Proof of this is PURE, Castalie’s first fountain, launched in 2012, which has never sold as well as it has in recent months.
- The vast majority of our suppliers are European.
It is for all these wonderful reasons that our PURE water fountain has received numerous awards, such as the Janus de l'Industrie with the "eco-design" mention and the Étoile de l'Observation du Design in 2015! We are proud of our entire range of water dispensers, which respond to the growing desire to adopt a zero-plastic, zero-waste approach!

Eco-friendly water coolers
For 14 years, we have been working hard to offer you the most eco-friendly water cooler possible. Life cycle assessment (LCA) provides a comprehensive evaluation of the environmental impacts associated with a product or service. It identifies the main sources of emissions and enables actions to be taken to reduce their harmful impact on the environment.

For the functional economy

Functionality lies at the heart of Castalie’s approach. We operate a product-as-a-service model for our water dispensers, based on the principles of the functional economy. How ? By offering our dispensers through rental and maintenance contracts, combined with comprehensive servicing and refurbishment programs.
This innovative model offers you peace of mind. You monitor our water coolers from start to finish, ensuring comprehensive and efficient management. What's more, this allows us to maximize the lifespan of our water coolers.
This approach goes beyond simply purchasing a product. It offers you a comprehensive and flexible solution focused on usage and functionality. By choosing our rental contracts combined with our dedicated services, you benefit from a seamless experience and optimal performance from our water coolers, while helping to extend their lifespan.
At Castalie, functionality is not just one aspect of our products; it is a comprehensive business model that aims to offer our customers an integrated, practical, and sustainable solution.
Integration
We are proud to collaborate with ESAT Yvonne Wendling, located in Issy-les-Moulineaux, just a stone's throw from one of our warehouses. This collaboration goes beyond a simple partnership by promoting professional integration and supporting the local economy with the assembly of our filtration kits within this establishment.

The choice of local anchoring

At Castalie, our commitment to industrial and territorial ecology guides our daily actions. We prioritize local partnerships that support our operations in France, thereby helping to reduce our carbon footprint and strengthen ties with our community.
Our production facilities are nearby: our filtered water fountains are manufactured in France, Italy, and Spain.
We deliver in an environmentally friendly manner in the Île-de-France region: hybrid vehicles, electric bikes, etc., thereby reducing our environmental impact in this region.
We have nearly 40 Castalie technicians across the country. This strategic distribution ensures a strong local presence, enabling fast and efficient service while reducing travel and carbon emissions.
At Castalie, we believe in the power of local partnerships to promote sustainable development, strengthen regional economies, and reduce our environmental footprint, while making a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate.

We believe that all talents matter! Together, we take on the challenges of impact-driven business in a collective, entrepreneurial, and pioneering adventure.
We have established fair compensation principles. The average compensation of the five highest-paid employees or executives does not exceed seven times the annual compensation received by a full-time employee.
This fair compensation policy reflects our commitment to a fair and balanced salary structure, where everyone contributes to our collective success and where pay gaps are limited, thereby promoting cohesion and motivation within our team.
Advocating for action
At Castalie, advocacy is at the heart of our commitment to positive change. We are actively involved in advocacy initiatives with the government, Parliament, various forums, and also with the Impact France movement.
We firmly believe that our actions extend beyond our company; they embody a broader vision for a more sustainable society. By advocating with government and legislative bodies, we promote policies and measures that support the environment, the circular economy, and responsible consumption.
Impact France is a major forum where we express our convictions and share our ideas to stimulate systemic change.
We defend the values of eco-responsibility, sustainability, and solidarity, while seeking to inspire other actors to follow this path.
Our advocacy is based on a deep conviction: businesses have a crucial role to play in building a better future, and at Castalie, we are determined to be driving forces
behind this change.

Providing access to water for all
