Castalie A positive impact for water and the planet

Since our creation in 2011, we have been driven by one mission: to make water better, for us and for the planet. At Castalie, we believe in the power of collective action to build a more virtuous and sustainable model.

By sharing our 2024 impact report with you, we offer a transparent summary of our actions and their concrete benefits.

Since pictures speak louder than words, discover the key figures from our 2024 impact report in this video.

A collective committed to a sustainable model

The success of our mission depends on the strength of our collective efforts. Clients, partners, institutions, and employees: it is by working together that we build a model for real impact.

In 2024, this collective represents:

  • More than 3,000 customers (cafes, hotels, restaurants, and businesses)
  • 14 million people who consume Castalie water every month
  • A team of 107 dedicated employees (excluding interns and work-study students)

Providing high-quality, sustainable water: our primary mission

The core of our approach is to prove that it is possible to consume pure, local, and neutral-tasting water with a reduced impact. A solution designed to improve everyday logistics and reduce your carbon footprint.

88% less impact: Castalie, a concrete alternative to plastic

Without measurement, there is no impact. A life cycle assessment (LCA) conducted by the independent firm Quantis showed thatone liter of Castalie water Castalie an environmental impact 88% lower than one liter of water in a plastic bottle.

385 million plastic bottles avoided

Behind our 6,700 installed fountains, a collective impact is taking shape day after day. Since 2011, our customers' trust has helped us avoid 385 million plastic water bottles.

The circular economy at the heart of our DNA

Reducing waste is one thing, but our ambition is part of a broadercircular economy approach. The goal is to control our impact from start to finish.

From design to recycling: controlling our impact

Our model is based on four concrete pillars:

  • Rental/maintenance of Castalie water fountains: By renting our customized solutions, we ensure regular maintenance of our water fountains, allowing us to extend their lifespan while guaranteeing pure water quality at all times.
  • Reconditioning: Our reconditioning workshop in Issy Les Moulineaux allows us to give our water coolers a second life.

Recycling: At the end of their life cycle, water coolers that cannot be put back into service are dismantled for recycling. This ensures that materials are reused, preventing the creation of new waste.

A design created for longevity

Our designs are minimalist and timeless, and our fountains are built to last. The choice of robust materials (glass and stainless steel) guarantees their longevity. This is our concrete response to the model of planned obsolescence: reliable equipment that stands the test of time.

What about the carbon footprint in all this?

Our products emit nine times less greenhouse gases than a plastic bottle (LCA, Quantis). How? Thanks to sustainable design and materials, and optimized logistics that favor short supply chains. Our technicians cover the entire country to respond quickly to our customers' requests.

Local and European industrial ambition

To reinforce this commitment, we are stepping up our industrial ambitions in 2024 with the opening of two new production sites in France and Spain. Producing closer to our customers means less transport, less CO2 emissions, and more support for the local economy.

Social commitments that extend beyond our borders

Our mission goes beyond environmental impact. We firmly believe that access to a resource as vital as water should not be a luxury. That is why our commitment is also social and solidarity-based.

Access to water for all with the NGO Made Blue

We are committed to facilitating access to quality water everywhere, for everyone. Thanks to our partnership with the NGO MadeBlue, every liter of water consumed via our fountains helps fund projects to provide access to drinking water in developing countries. Since the program's launch, more than 15,000 people have gained sustainable access to drinking water in Ethiopia. This project has also prevented 685 tons of plastic waste locally.

Promoting social and professional inclusion

Locally, we are proud to collaborate with an ESAT (Établissement et Service d’Aide par le Travail, or Establishment and Service for Assistance through Work). This partnership allows us to entrust part of our logistics to workers with disabilities, thereby contributing to their social and professional integration.
